Obubu Owners, Chapporters & Partners

After returning to Japan and meeting some of the 500+ Obubu Owners in Japan, I am beginning to understand that this “Owner’s System” is more than just Community Supported Agriculture. What doesn’t translate directly is how each of the “owners” feel a strong attachment to Obubu as an “investor” in the farm and Obubu’s contributions to society through tea. As such, we’ve decided to reconstitute the former CSA Tea Club as “Obubu Owners” to bring this spirit to our overseas customers.

Supporting Obubu

Besides the benefits to joining the club listed above, your participation as an individual or business helps support Obubu’s mission:

  1. To make farming fun by creating connections between consumers and producers: You would be supporting Obubu itself as a farm, and helping Obubu prove to other farmers that the Internet can be a revolutionary tool to help farmers and consumers alike show their appreciation for one another. Specifically, this effort has taken form as the International Tea Farms Alliance (TeaFarms.org).
  2. To contribute to the spread of tea culture by introducing Japanese tea and providing advice to other farmers around the world: Japanese tea is so well known by Japanese, but still not drunk widely elsewhere. We hope to change that, contributing to global tea culture in the process. And, as we engage others the world over, we are discovering other like-minded farmers who are just starting out, or just starting to get to know the consumers of their tea. Your contribution will help us support them in their efforts.

We hope your membership in this club means you are interested not only in the Japanese tea that we make, but also in our farming practices as well. We encourage you to come and visit us to experience a little of the tea farming life! Members who visit during the harvest season will even get to pick and take home their own tea!

Finally, we want you to feel that you are part of the production process and will be sending out samples, questionnaires, etc. to club members and partners in order to determine the future of Obubu’s overseas activities.
